Is there a way to hide multiple groups in bulk, rather than hiding each group individually?

I know no way how to do that for more than one group at a time.
It may be possible to do this direclty in the database if you find the place where this is stored.
It may be possible that this is stored in the user configuration in the VFS. So there might be a xml document there which holds this information. If so, you could copy that out and put it in each user profile you want.

If you have good SQL knowledge, and by "hide" you mean remove any sharing of a group, perhaps you can do it with SQL statements in the LAN admin client. All groups are plugins and plugins are in the plugin table. Possibly, using SQL statements you can isolate the groups you want and then change the Released column to false (F).
