Visual is running VERY slow

Hello,

Visual is running very slow for all of our users, almost to the point of being unusable. For example, trying to open an Engineering Master takes approximately 9 minutes, when it took about 60 seconds just a few days ago.

This is not limited to the Manufacturing Window, but every part that we use is having extraordinarily slow response rates. Even moving from one menu to the next in the main screen takes several seconds.

I logged in as Admin and updated all database statistics. This took 3 minutes, and completed after "Phase 1 - Table/Index Statistics". The system performance has not improved.

We are using Visual Enterprise v. 7.0.0 on Win XP Professional, 32 bit.
There have been no more than 4 concurrent users at a time, although we can have up to 10.
We have not had any upgrades or changes to our system within the past 2 months.
We started noticing sluggish response 3 days ago, and it's become worse as time goes on.
We log into Visual through a Citrix Server, so that could be the reason, but I don't think it is.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Do you alredy try to restart Citrix server?
Check task manager in Citrix server and check wich task is consumming more memory or your proccesor.

Russ- How can I tell? (dumb question. I'm the secondary administrator, the primary is on vacation)

sol.palafox- Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Citrix Server. It is maintained on a server farm in a different state. I'll reach out to them if I have to, but there's a lot of red tape inbetween and can take several days to get a response, so if at all possible, I'd like to see if I can do anything first.

Check your workflows... the easiest way I know to check if you have the same issue is to NOT use the VM.exe menu and open the application directly. VMPRTMNT.exe, etc. If the windows open in a timely manner, check all workflow settings or any recent changes. Ours was processing the workflows every second, instead of minutes, and on every workcenter. Also the workflow log file on your server will likely be growing at an excessive rate.

We also are implementing Version 7 and experiencing slower perfromance than in 6.3.8.
We have one computer in th eShop which gets hung on the Work Order Trraveller report now.
It is inconsistent, Sometimes ith runs fine but then it hangs up.

I did find that by adding the path for the mapped drive which contains our executables on the server, to the client envrionment path on each computer eliminated a lot of "Visual has Stopped Working" errors as well as speeding up the response time when switching between Visual modules.

We had sporadic slowdowns with Visual 7.0. It would only happen at certain times of the day a couple times a week. I eventually figured out that Accounting was running costing during those times and that was bogging down everything. I believe it locks certain tables and fields while it runs. Its best to run during off peak usage.
We're using SQL Server 2008 but I don't think that makes a difference.

This may be an obvious question for those of us who have been around Visual for a long time but do you have a [Semaphore] section in your Visual.ini file?
