Blanket PO's

We don't make anything here. We receive parts from our customers, process them and then return them. So inventory for us is actually our customer's inventory that we have in-house. We use it to determine how many parts are actually on the production floor, not to determine if we need to order more of a product.

I have customers who have given us open PO's. For example, we received 10,000 pcs today under the blanket PO. I may ship 8000 on Monday, then get another 10,000, then ship back 5000. If I enter them as separate orders with the same PO # because they will show up on multiple customer orders and that might get confusing.

Does anyone else use blanket PO's the way we do and, if so, how do you handle order entry?
