XRL and Sophos

Hi All

A client has recently installed Sophos AV on Vista PCs and since the install, XRL has started to generate error messages when the user tries to Recalculate. The error message is relates to "Problem found in Module ALchemyControlTags......" and then also refers to VBScript.

We have tried to uninstall XRL but get a "Internal Error 2738" and cannot go any further. Also if we try to install XRL on a PC with Sophos AV, we get the same "Internal Error 2738" message soon after clicking on Setup.exe. I have tried registering VBScript.dll and the dll registers fine, but still no joy with XRL.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Didnt get much of a response to this query..I guess no one else has experienced it then ??

Anyhow....Just in case someone else has this issue in future, the problem was eventually found to be an old registry entry created by McAfee, that was not removed when Sophos was installed. Possible due to client not removing McAfee properly before installing Sophos.

Thanks for the heads-up Shahid. I certainly don't come across a lot of Sophos out there on customer sites (maybe 3 or 4 in 15 years!) so probably nobody else has had this yet.

" it seems to me as if :-

a) McAfee was uninstalled properly.(Perhaps a McAfee uninstall utility)?
b) Sophos installer did not detect that another Antivirus was installed and should have asked if that version needed to be uninstalled first.(Perhaps could be raised with Sophos)?

Normally Antivirus software will crash or not work properly if another is present (McAffee or Symantec would always detect a previous version and ask to uninstall it in my experience with those two) so this sounds like there was potentially an issue with the AV software.
