IC18.1 Item Comments
unknown
Is anyone using IC18.1 Item Comments? If so, how are you using it and how does it work.
Thanks,
Kyle

We have used them in the past - currently we don't have a need. We used them mostly for information that needed to print on the PO. Example: You order kit # ABC from the vendor but the kit includes 2ea of # 123 and 1ea of # 456. We had a comment that printed on the PO for the buyer, vendor and receiving department as an FYI.
We originally used them for information that the buyer may need - like item is on mfg backorder, it was replaced by xxx. We found that the buyers never looked at them and it was a lot to keep all those comments up to date.
The comment type is set up on IC00.2. Where the comment prints (if anywhere) is set up on IC00.3 for item master reports - and on PO01 if you want them to print on the purchase order.

We use item comments anytime we make any change to the item - who requested the change, what the change is, and who did the change.
we leave the Type blank. but we found that we had to put an OLD beginning and End date or else we got an EDI error. We use 010101 for both dates.

Pam - Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. We have an item that, when ordered, another component also gets shipped with it. Receiving doesn't see it on the slip and always questions the buyer who then in turn has to do research to determine why we received it.
Tracy - Thank you for the feedback. This is helpful to know.
Thanks
Kyle
