macro to check if open ECN on work order and not allow update.
Legacy Contributor
What I have is Visual 6.5.3 and SQLBase 9.0.1. I think i already know the answer but, just wanted to check to see if there is an easier way to do this. I want to create a macro in the manufacturing window to not allow the changing of the status if there is an ECN for the work order. I think I have to search the ECN table for the Work_Order ID and the ECN status that is not Completed or Cancelled. Is there anything in the Work_Order that I can check for an open ECN.
Thanks
Joel

Wouldn't you want to tap the requirement table for each part in the work order to see if the were any ECN's against them?

Just asked Documentation dept (who are the ones that create the ECN's) and they said that if it is on a part it stops the material handler from kitting the work order which does what they want and stops the process. Where as if there is a problem with the whole work order and not just a part then creating the ECN with the work order number does not stop the process and the schedular can still change the status to "Release" on the work order and it will go to the material handler to be kitted. Just to clear things also, if it has already been "Released" then there is a different set of rules that has to be done to stop the process. This is just one way force the process to stop with this work order before it is released. Thanks for your input.
