Best Way to Learn VQ?
alim-pasha
We're new to VQ, well, let's say we installed it several years ago and it was never used.
Any experience on learning how to use it, other than the giant 650 page manual?
Just wondering what other's experience has been. Any pharma companies out there tried it out?
Thanks,
Mike

After many years of not really using VQ we have recently been working on implementing VQ 6.53. The first step is to set up the User groups, users and employees (under COMMUNICATION -> INVOLVE -> and make sure that everyone’s login really works. We went through setting up about 50 only to find out that they needed the same login as in the Visual Manufacturing, it was not wise to use any special characters or underlines and that the password in VQ had a length restriction. Also if you are planning at some time to utilize the Outlook tasks/e-mail for tasks then you may as well put the email address in the employee record now. The next steps involved the Equipment and Control modules. Implementation done correctly may take you 6 months to a year. Weekly group meetings with all of the stake holders will help to ensure that you are on the right track.

Thank you for the feedback.
What resources did your organization utilize to ensure the rollout was in harmony with the requirements and functionality of the software? Did you use a consultant?

We initially used a consultant that also is great at implementation. He was here fro a week to do overall training on VQ and the connection that it had with the Visual manufacturing system.
His name is Javier Espinosa and he is an INFOR consultant. After that I set up the project and started the implementation, since I have project management experience. We are about 80 percent finished and actually started the first of the year (2011).

Has anyone tried out the Electronic Signature system? I've noticed there are approvals, and they do ask for passwords, but it's the same password that was used to logon to the system in the first place, so it doesn't meet the 21 CFR 11 requirements.
I am wondering if there is a way to create two passwords. One for login, and the other for "signatures". I also noticed it doesn't automatically timestamp when the approval password is given. Any ideas would be appreciated.
