Need to change a customer id in a customer order already invoiced

Hoping for some help here. A customer order was entered and invoiced with the wrong customer no. Once it was discovered, the sales person then did a shipment return, released the order, and tried to change the customer # and reship and invoice. However, it says there are already shipments against this order.

I cannot delete the pack lists because they have been invoiced. The Knowledge Center said to delete the invoices and then delete the pack lists. I am kind of going around in circles with this. It allowed me to delete invoices in A/R and delete the shipment return pack list but not the original order pack list. I think I have made things worse in doing this because, somehow, in this process, it has been re-invoiced, again.

Any suggestions on how to correct this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Teresa,
I believe what you should do is a shipment return again.
Change the order qty to 0. Manually close that order (if there is nothing else to ship on it).
Create a new customer order using the correct customer ID.
Ship the parts against that order.

Do you link the work order to the customer order?

There is a work order linked to the C.O., which is why we were trying to correct it to the orig. order#. However, I think we have decided to do a shipment return then a new cust. order because the work order line does not have a price and does not need to show on the invoice. Just needed to capture the cost of the material in the WO.

Seems like there should be a better, easier way, especially when a shipment return is done.

If you zero out the original customer order quantity you should be able to link the work order to the new customer order. Then you will have a correct record of the work order shipping on that customer order.
