Excel has stopped working appears when publisher appears

A customer keeps getting the following message when the publisher appears. Does anyone know how to stop this happening or what causes it.

Hi Simon,

I have had this issue before. The CRM System we sell has an Excel add-in, which appears to be incompatible with Opera, so when the publisher screen is loaded in Opera, we get the "Excel has stopped working" error. I have to disable this add-in on all sites that have both Opera and this CRM system.

I would suggest you open up Excel and disable all Add-Ins and COM Add-Ins, and see if the problem goes away. If it does bring back each add-in one at a time until the error re-occurs.
