pdf image of dot matrix design

hi all i wonder if anyone had seen this issue and how to resolve?
our client has had issue with pdf image of dot matrix invoice design since upgrading server.
the epson printer isnt installed on server i suspect because no compatible drivers.
the invoice prints out ok to the epson but the pdf image that is created against the sales transaction is squashed, therefore cannot be reprinted.
the invoice design has the epson saved against it.

We have had one user at a customer site reporting something that sounds the same, although they're all A4 laser and have not changed anything. We asked them to check that the default printer wasn't some label printer or something with a tiny page size. Haven't heard anything back about it.
