Thousands comma separator in total fields
Legacy Contributor
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to add the thousands comma separator into the total fields on a layout in SOP/Invoicing so that, for example, if total is: 1000 then it shows as 1,000 or if 100000 then total shows as 100,000.
Thanks :-)
Bhav

If the field is numeric, then simply add something like ‘999,999,999.99’ to the ‘Format’ option for the field
If the field is Character, such as Line Value and totals on SOP documents, then you need to convert it to numeric in the field definition, by enveloping the expression therein in a VAL() expression.
Then do the formatting above.
This LOCKS DOWN the decimals. So if you need 3dp, then you need to put 3 ‘9’s after the point in the format expression
The field width on the report must be wide enough to accommodate the length of the format expression.
If (say) the field is not wide enough to take 999,999,999.99 then you will get a row of asterisks whatever value you try to display ie Value 1.23 will display as ‘**********’
