updates to MSCM
cpashley
Our MSCM is on Version 10.1.6.5 and the handhelds are also. We just received a notification that an update on the handheld is needed. Just looking for feedback as to how other clients getting these notifications handle them and what would create the need for the notification

There may be several reasons. Time change, the server MSCM is on was updated, or no reason at all. Was your MSCM version recently updated? Occasionally 1 or 2 or our HH's will prompt an update, but when we attempt to push the update, the message on the HH will tell us the current version is up to date, no need for update.
We use Soti as our mobile device solution. So we can push all needed updates without the users being interrupted. Money very well spent, in my opinion.

Thanks Denny. We have not had any updates recently to the server or at least to our knowledge. Have you ever researched for documentation as to why the update is needed or requested?

I haven't looked into that. Prior to Soti, I would check with our IS Network team to see what change were made. It was usually a simple server update or restart service. That would kick an update message to mobile devices, needed or not. Kind of an FYI I think.
