Workflow not updating with existing workflows

I have workflow setup for Part Maintenance. But I need to override some settings.
When I set the workflow for part maintenance to inactive, it still comes up with the error messages. It seems like the workflow attaches itself to the part, and will never let it go...
Any way around this?

Not that I am aware of.
Fortunately, I did lots of testing prior to going "live" with it and noticed this prior to going live.
At a recent user conference, this was pointed out as one of the current drawbacks. Let's hope they get rid of this. There are positives about that approach, but, I personally feel they don't outweigh the negatives of this approach.
