upgrade from SQLBase 7.6.1 to 9.0.1
Legacy Contributor
I am trying to setup a test to check problems of upgradeing from 7.6.1 to 9.0.1 and I have unloaded 7.6.1 from my computer and installed 9.0.1, I setup the sql.ini file to connect and I got the error 9293 cannot load any communication dll's. Checked the new SQLBase folder and all the communication dll's are missing. SQLSOCK.dll, SQLWS32.dll and others. Is there another part of the SQLBase 9 install that I am supposed to run??

MinnJoe,
Most 9293 errors are pathing errors or duplicate/incomplete sql.ini files and I've added what to look for at the end of this message. I've also posted my Inforum '06 presentation which does a walk through of a SQLBase 9 install. You can download it from the Files section.
You want to have the Team Developer (TD) Runtimes first and the SQLBase runtimes second.
The following is from a Knowledgebase Article (KBA) dealing with 9293 errors:
SQL 9293 Error
The description of this error is “Cannot Load any Communication DLLs” and can occur when the local Runtime directory cannot be located in the Path statement on this workstation. Follow the directions below to check your PATH on the client workstation.
To Edit the PATH in NT2000XP
Open Control Panel
Click on System icon
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Environment/Variables button
In the System window, highlight Path
Click Edit
Now, you can edit the Path Statement
Click Ok
Note: Rebooting Win2000 or XP is not necessary; the edited Path will take affect immediately.
