Blanket Sales Orders

Hi, Has anyone done a modification to allow Blanket Sales Orders to be created from a Sales Order?
One of our clients receives large orders (150+ lines) via EDI & Salesforce that will not ship for 4 or 5 months and the quantities on the order are showing in the BCC when the order is entered. They do not want to purchase the items until the ship date gets closer.

Or does anyone have a different way of handling this scenario?
