force validation procedure
kevenh
In FACTS 7.7, if the user enters or tabs past a field without changing it. The validation procedure does not get executed. I understand the reasons for this. However, we have instances where we would like the validation procedure to be executed, even if the user does not change any thing. Does anyone know if there is a way to force a particular field (multi-line field for our needs) to run the validation, even if the user made no changes to the field?

Keven,
I believe that Entering through a field always executes the validation procedure and that tabbing through a field only executes it if the value changed. This may have been a change in an incremental, but I do not know which one.

Ken,
You're right. Thank you, that helps.
I still think it would be a good feature (maybe a check box in SMPRMT) to be able to force validation on a field, even if the user does not change the field and tabs through it. It would allow for automated processes to be coded that would always trigger at specific fields.
