Par Location Copy
Stace Webley
Does anyone know of a job that would copy an existing par location (all items and details) into a new par location (one under a different name)? Thanks!

You can use the "Copy From Location" field on IC81, to create a new par location with a different location code. (It appears I was right the first time.)

Ya, thank you. I relized that after I posted this...thanks for commenting! I had a brain dead moment.

We use that function however we recently found that if copying a par location with lots of items the copy does not work successfully. Has anyone else experienced issues like this-not all items copy and in some cases the par location doesn't even show up.

Well I'll know just how good it is within a couple hours...yesterday I copied about 10 par locations and they are going to be counted this morning using MSCM. So far, my backups of the locations are consistent with the copies, but I only sampled 3 of them. I also checked in MSCM Location Management to make sure the locations were added and put them on one of the tech's My Par Forms list. We are on Lawson v9.0.1.8.

Alright, so the rollout with the copied locations in IC81.1 wasn't entirely successful. However, I haven't ran into a problem with any missing items from the copy yet.
The first problem I had was the error "No Charge flag mismatch; Par/Cart Loc vs. Replenish..." appearing in MSCM on the par count log. I had to go to each line in IC81.1 that had this error, put a "C" on the line and then Change on the form. I didn't even have to flip any flags because they were already matching. For some reason the program didn't think they matched until I did a change on the line...then I resubmitted the counts in MSCM and they uploaded successfully.
The other problem was a user error...I forgot to make the new locations PFP in MSCM. Other than that things have gone good so far. I don't know why some lines needed to be changed though and my fear is that they will all eventually need that since it appears that I've only worked on items that needed to be picked so far...

We have that No Charge flag mismatch issue also. When I add items using IC840 if there are a lot of them I'll use addins to do just as you did- C in the FC field and Change all the lines without actually changing anything.

I guess I better do the same for each line. I've only touched a small portion of them so far.

Stace - How are your schedulers set in mscm.filter.properties? IC81 locations should automatically populate to MSCM.
Stace Webley
I'm not sure how our schedulers are set exactly, but the locations did come over without any problems. I just failed to mark a few of them as PFP.

Hey Jon- I'm really striking out on the Add-ins to put a C in the FC field. Which fields are required for this? I am getting the Add-ins to work on the first line, but then each line afterwards say Bin Sequence already exists...Do you have template for this task from your previous experience? Thanks!

_f3,ICL-COMPANY
_f5,ICL-LOCATION
_f19,PT-BGD-BIN-SEQ
_f20:0,LINE-FC1
_f21:0,BGD-BIN-SEQ1
_f22:0,ITL-PREFER-BIN1
_f23:0,ITL-ITEM1
_f19,PT-BGD-BIN-SEQ is the key field that gets missed a lot and it will be the same as _f21:0,BGD-BIN-SEQ1 on the upload so after I query the par location I just duplicate/copy the column with the bin sequence. This setup is just for changing the lines without actually changing any data. A workaround to fix the No Charge flag mismatch error. (we're on apps 9.0.1)

Thanks! Works great, I was missing the Bin Seq field in front of the FC field!
