Engineering Change Notice

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes!

I'm looking in visual for something that will record updates to a given item over time(i.e, changing a customers email, a typo in a first name) for traceability purposes.

From looking at the documentation, I believe that ECN(Engineering Change Notice) is close to what I'm looking for, can anyone who's used this feature before describe what it is, how you've used it and if it might help me accomplish my goal?

I've worked with it on Part Maintenance/Engineering Masters tracking the Engineering Changes that are made to a custom part.



Whenever we get a revised drawing or improved process, we create a new Part Revision and write in the log what changed and make the old revision inactive so we always have that old data available.



From what I can tell, I cannot access the ECN outside Part Maintenance and the Manufacturing Window, so not sure if this is really what you're looking for. To track changes to customers.



There are customer notations, but those are seen everywhere the customer is used and usually holds important information, so not likely what you're looking for either.



I know that there is a Change Log feature in Visual but that requires an additional server to log all the changes and takes a significant amount of bandwidth.
