Importing Budget

Does anyone have any experience importing budgets. I looked at the instructions on Visual but they were kind of limited.

In particular:

1. What format should the CSV be in? Which columns included? Template anywhere?

2. What does the "Budget Type" and "Budget Code" signify. In the past my company has manually entered the budget but did not have to specify these. Now they are required before we are able to click on the "Import" button.

3. How can I quickly see what I imported or delete a budget that was imported?

Coincidentally I've just done our budget imports in the last few days.



The file template you need is basic CSV and here's the first rows of one of my files including headings:

You don't need the Budget Type and Budget Code in the file but you do need it to import the file in the budget maintenance screen. We use the Budget type as a version number and the budget code for a department number, but in fact you can use them for anything. If you don't need any further analysis you still need to set up at least one Budget Type and one Budget Code to allow you to import.



Once imported you can make manual amendments/deletions from the Accounting Window. There's a pull down menu called Budget (right hand side) which has all the combinations of Budget Type and Budget Code that you've imported budgets for.
