Is anyone using the mulit-site capabily and what are the pros and cons of using it?

I am interested in taking advantage of this functionality, but would like to know what the real world pros and cons are.  Not just reading about the documentation. Thanks, Vivian

We are currently in the process of switching to multi-site. It seems like the pros are better visibility of the company/s operations and the profitability of different segments. Not really any cons to the actual functionality but depending upon how much you've used work-arounds to hack in an additional company into your single site version, it will be more difficult switching over to multi-site. In such case it might be better to reimplement at the addition of a site. Maybe others who have used this functionality longer can add to this.
