My Account speedsearch Index took over 74 hours to complete.

Our DB is much smaller, but this is typical for us (full index build):

I don't have a lot of experience optimizing this process, but I can think of a couple of things...

- Check that the volume where the indexes are stored is defragmented and healthy

- Check that the SQL indexes in the CRM DB are rebuilt regularly

- Go into Administrator > Manage > SpeedSearch Indexes > Account > View, and look at the Filter & Preview Fields tab... check that the fields it is indexing are the ones you expect

We have also found that SQL index rebuilds kills our speed-search processing prematurely. I have to stop any SQL db maintenance to get the Speedsearch re-index to complete fully.

Well, that is a large data set, so it will take a while.

However, the key is to make sure you don't run full rebuilds on top of each other. Meaning don't stack them 10 mins apart.

Make sure 1st rebuild is fully done, before next one (for example activity) starts.

Obviously, only run Full every week/2weeks/month and incremental in between.

Other than that -you will be IO bound, meaning you need faster hardware.

Good advice. The 74 hour time run was with only one full being run.
