ODBC File Server Question

Has anyone out there ever installed the Providex/pxplus ODBC/File Server twice on the same machine? I have a customer using ODBC for several different applications and the most important one frequently can't be used due to a max license count reached. My thought was rather than just adding to their current license and still maybe risk maxing out, could I just get another pro bundle 1 user license to use exclusively for the one application and let all the others continue to use the current license?

This is a Red Hat Linux system. I'm thinking I would have to install in a different directory and use a different port obviously, but no one's been able to tell me if this will work or if some conflict will happen.

There's no reason that 2 installs with different licenses and different ports would not work that I am aware of. To test this theory, deploy a second instance in "demo" mode.

Why not upgrade the customer to "Pro-Bundles" then you should have plenty of ODBC licenses.

Marty, thanks, I've just never tried that before. I will try to setup using the demo mode instance and do some testing. The answer to your last question is Money! We could also just buy enough licenses to cover all the clients we have installed, but that was too much money as well! But I can't guarantee them that adding 1 or 2 will 100% get rid of maxing out of licenses, so I thought that my 'dedicated' idea for this one important app was a good solution if it would work.

One more thought for your sales team. Yes it is a lot of money to bring a customer from Providex to Pro-Bundles, however when you get to a newer version of FACTS it will be required anyway. You could use this as a method of getting the customer to move forward. Spend the money today on the pro-bundle upgrade and you don't have to spend that amount later when you upgrade to the newer version of FACTS.
