Non standard forecasting

We currently use a UDF on the delivery schedule screen to set a status by part for a customer regarding the following

F= Customer Forecast

H = Our Forecast

R = Firm Customer Forecast

 

It’s currently the only way we have to see a future forecast for our parts.  We don’t manufacture onsite so we don’t use material planning/MRP, not sure there’s a better way to do this.   Does anyone have a solution for forecasting like this?

One simple thing we do to show customer forecast is put in customer orders with the Unreleased "U" status. Then there is NO buying or production of those orders. They are used strictly for forecast only and absolutely nothing else. The dates can be pulled in or pushed out or QTY's changed with no impact on anything else. When the orders are firmed then the purchasing process starts. I then create customer forecast using these "U" status and Firmed "F" status orders. You could do the same for your forecast by creating Unreleased orders to stock? Hope this helps.
