MSCM Handhelds and Par/Inventory Level Data

Greetings,

Our supply chain unit uses Lawson 10 along with Motorola N410 handhelds. They use the handhelds to scan bar codes on the shelves in various departments. They enter the quantity on the shelves and, I believe, if the quantity is less than the pre-set par level a reorder is triggered.

My question is the information entered into the handhelds stored anywhere in Lawson? Maybe a table I can query. I would like to use it as a proxy for usage rates in a given department.

Sorry if my question is trivial or silly. I don't work in supply chain, I work in finance.

Not exactly in the Lawson database... but you may be able to catch it in the MSCM database.... Try MSCM.Item or MSCM.Lawson_Item ---- I may be able to send you a diagram of the tables if you'd leave me your email?

No, you'll have to use Sql Server Management Studio or another tool if you're on Windows SQL, or Oracle Developer if you host your MSCM on Oracle.

Another option would be to hook Crystal up to MSCM and then you could develop reports from it.

You can output the Par Count Report in MSCM Admin tool to Excel but you can only export one count at a time so a bit cumbersome.

You may be able to use the ICTRANS table in Lawson with a DOC_TYPE of 'IS' and SYSTEM_CD of 'IC'. If you have specific locations you want to reference you can do that with the FROM_TO_LOC in your ICTRANS query.

You can use MSCM, but you will not capture any IC21.1/IC21.2 transactions that would have gone to the unit unless they were done in the handheld.

It is what I use when I am looking for transactions from a perpetual location to a par or requesting location.

Not sure about the user guide. Haven't seen one in a while. But when you log in just go to Par and Cycle Counting >>Par Counting, then click on the Reports tab, enter your criteria and you'll get a listing of the count headers. Then click on the Count Details button to the right and you'll see the details for that count. Click the Excel icon in the upper left to export.

There is a Lawson job for Par Utilization - IC182. This may be close to what you are looking for.

When our pars are counted at less than par level, a requisition is created. I have used reqline for par usage in the past - please note that if a quantity is added (as in I want more than the par level for the weekend) this will create a second requisition for the location. A lot easier than querying MSCM.

For completed counts you can capture the information from the ReqHeader and ReqLine Tables. Any requisition that was entered for a Par via MSCM or IC83 will have a RQH-RECORD-SOURCE code = 04 (IC83). What you will miss out on is any failed uploads.

We have access to the MSCM schema as Greg mentioned and can run our queries directly against the MSCM tables. The main tables would be the EVENT_HEADER and EVENT_DETAIL, although you will need to link the LOCATION and ITEM Tables as well.

I dumped the ICTRANS table and see there is a field labeled "SOH-QTY", Stock on hand -Quanity. Is that the actual amount in the bin?

Yes, at the time of that transaction. I forgot to mention that you need to order by the TRAN_COUNTER and not the date to be more accurate.
