Purging former employees in Employee Maintenance

Is it possible to purge former employees from Employee Maintenance? When I try to delete an employee I received the message:

Employee ID [employee ID number] is referenced by another table (EMPLOYEE_SITE_VIEW). Deletion of this employee is not allowed.

I have set these employees to inactive, but they still show up when searching through the list. Filtering to "Active = Yes" is not a simple option as you have to re-filter each time we go in.

Any help?

Hi Jarrod,

You can't delete a employee that had any type of transactions. If you want to filter them out in employee maintenance i would create a profile with active set to yes and name it Active.

Also, you can then save that profile as 'Default' so then it will always be active for you. This would have to be setup for each user doing that search.

Interesting. I did create a profile called "Employee - Active" with the filters set to "Active = Yes" and "Type = Salary", and saved it as default. However, when I browse Employee ID from Employee Maintenance it does not default to these settings. If I select "Profile, Open" it successfully loads. Is there a way to have it load as default? I saved as default by checking the save as default box, to no avail. What am I missing?

Hi Jarrod,

This isn't a approved solution by info but it seems to work for me.

Open the file VMBROWSE.INI in your visual directory and save as VMBROWSE_BK.INI close the file. ( backup the file )

Open the file VMBROWSE.INI

Find this section.

Note the line i added will make it only show active employee's.

title=Employees

where=ACTIVE='Y' <-- this is the added line !
searchfirst=0
autorefresh=0
autobrowse=1
distinct=1
