Printing the stage/revision on the packlist.

Has anyone had to print the revision ID on the packlist. Not the original-stage-revision-ID or the Current revision ID, But the revision ID at the time when the product was built. lets say we have a finshed part F-ABC-123456. "F-" means it is the finished product/part we sell to our customer. The original stage revision Id might be "Release A" where as the Customer just reved the part for the next build to "Release C". We still have some of the old Revision "B" that we are shipping right now, But, Engineering has already reved up the part getting ready for the new revision build. How can I get the "Release B" stage/revison to print on the pack list?

Great question! We're in the same boat; would be nice to see the Rev level of the produced product, basically assuming it would hold static on the order entry and pull over to the packing list.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but we also do not have our Rev level showing up on the work order. I'm looking to Synergy for a report/printout change, wondering if you have already done that or if it was on your WO by default?

Using Gupta Report Writer and Extended Queries (located in Application Global Maintenance/Maintain/Report Format File Overrides) we have Customer Order Lines at rev A or B, Part Maintenance at rev B, and Order Acknowledgements/Packing Slips/Invoices pull from the COL (customer order line), using specific inventory locations to ship from keeps the revs separated in inventory. Inventory transactions need to receive into the specific inventory location to keep counts correct. We also checked off the "allow inventory to go negative" in Application Global Maintenance. We use commodities codes like RCS for lower level material and FGI for finished goods. (OBS,PPP,FAI,TFG,RCP,FGP...)

We add prefixes to part numbers for FAI/PPAP to allow WIP to be separate from Production WIP.

If this makes sense, then it's easy. If not, learn how to do this stuff and empower yourself.

We don't put the finished product in inventory. We package it and ship it pretty much the same day or the next day. The customer would like to have the revision printed on the packlist so when they receive it that they know which revision it is. So if we ship what is left of rev "B" this week and then in a week or 2 weeks later we ship rev "C" then it is on the packlist so they know which box is rev "B" and which is rev "C".

OK, have been doing some investigating and would like someone to check thier database and verify thier data just in case. When the work order is created it pulls from the part master the Stage and revision and concatinates them together and puts it in the work order header in the "ORIG_STAGE_REVISION_ID" field. So that is the stage and revision of the work order at the time it is built from what I can see. Please let me know if this is the same for you.
