MSCM Labeling

Reaching out to see what others have developed for MSCM labeling. We're really struggling with this and MSCM does not really provide a good solution. We have areas with a lot of customizations which causes us to go outside of MSCM.

What are others using and what type of process have you developed? Our current process is pretty cumbersome and causing frustrations. We're open to new ideas or solutions that we have not considered or don't know about.

Neil,

Have you heard anything back on this? We are struggling with the same issue. This is especially true when we convert items and have to relabel 100 par carts across the system. It takes several clicks to print each label * 50 pars * 500 items converted = 50,000 extra clicks and wasted time. It would be really nice to have a bulk print option.

We use a product called NiceLabel. It's very easy to use, basically a report writer built specifically for labels. We is use for all of our on demand par cart labels as well as for automatically triggered labels for receiving put away. I recommend checking it out, it's not expensive and it was easy to implement. We've been using it for about 8 years.

We use custom forms and an interface to MHC for Label printing.

For par labels, we use a form (ZC597) that lets us print for a single location or a report group. It will print a single item label or a label for the item on all locations in a report group. We can also select a bin sequence range or shelf sequence range if we want to print multiple items at a time. We have added coding where we can select all items containing latex and print just those items so we can use a different color label for safety.

For Bin Labels, we use a custom form (ZC599). It allows us to print for a single bin, item range, bin group, or bin range.

We ran into the same issue so we created an internal website that utilizes Nice Label (application) for printing our MSCM labels. Users are able to print par and stock labels by pasting or manually entering item numbers. We added a functionality for conversions, where the users can enter an item number and it will locate all existing locations to be printed. We’ve also enabled a reprint option with the ability to see prior printing submissions.

How it works: The website queries the data and a service places the information needed for the label in a directory that is then processed by Nice Label. I’ve attached a screenshot of the conversion option and our custom sticker to give you an idea of what we built.

I couldn't find ER# 26381, but I did location ER# 18544 "MSCM Label Print multiple". Endorsed.

I know this is old, but can you give me a ballpark cost on Nice Label? We are looking to replace our old (archaic) current label program.

I don't recall what the cost was but I am pretty certain that it was under $5,000 for us.

Appreciate that info, we were hoping for it to be under capital expenditure.

I don't recall how much it cost initially, but we did a Nicelabel upgrade in 2015 for around $1,000 and we maintain support which around another $500 annually. You can also reach out to Emkat for a quote.
