How do I delete an older packlist?

An account manager came to me asking if we can delete a packlist for an older unshipped item so that he can change the price on this. Does anyone have a procedure for doing this? I'm guessing that since costing utilities has run since that time, it's going to make it a little more complicated.

You are ok to delete the packlist. It's a placeholder at this point - doesn't affect cost since it hasn't shipped anything. This is evident when you look into SHIPPER_LINE table and see the line item does not exist for that product against that sales order. Only the SHIPPER table header info exists. One week old, one year old, 10 years old. It's perfectly safe to delete. [Edit] Perfectly safe if the Packlist is truly "unshipped" .

If the price is the only thing the account manager is worried about you can edit the price in the packlist.

No need to delete it.

To change price on the packlist use edit packlist button or edit, edit from the shipping entry window.

Find the price you want to change and change it then click save. When you ship it the price will be correct for invoicing.

It has shipped, then we ran costing utilities and posted manufacturing entries, then they told me they needed to change the price. VBS told me I'd have to delete the batch first which makes me a little nervous and I'm not sure how to do it. Then I think we can delete the packlist and recreate it? I'm nervous then that running costing utilities again wouldn't catch everything that was deleted. Maybe costing tools comes into it?

You could do a return to the customer order which creates a packlist with a negative dollar amount. Run costing utilities and invoice the two packlists which would be for zero dollars. Then ship them again with the new price. Just a option.

I have been reading all of the responses to your question. As you can see it depends a lot on how the order was shipped. If you have run costing the you will need to use the RMA process(Return Material Authorization). Was your order attached to a work order or did you ship from inventory?

It was shipped but has not yet been invoiced. It was attached to a work order. It sounds like you're a couple of you are saying the person who entered needs to return and re-packlist it.

You only need to do a shipment return if the packlist has been invoiced. Delete the packlist and fix the price and re-packlist it. We do it all the time. We run costing utilities nightly.

Vivian, but I think it changes after you post manufacturing journals. You probably run the first two steps of costing utilities every night (we do the same).
