Service Pack Upgrades and Impact on Customization

Hello Gurus,

We are currently on SP18. We are migrating Baan IVc4 from Unix to Linux and Oracle 9i to 12g. We are not sure if service pack needs to be upgraded. I have the following questions:

1. Is there a Baan report which says which customizations might be impacted if we do a SP upgrade?

2. What level of testing is required to make sure customizations are working on current SP18 on the new OS and DB?

Any other thoughts and inputs with regards to the topic are highly appreciated.

Hi,

For migrating Baan IVc4 to Oracle 12.x, Porting Set of 9.x series is mendatory which inturn requires SLM as licensing mechanism instead of traditional Licmon licensing. So to enable SLM minimum Tools SP 23 is mendatory followed by some of the Tools Solutions as documented in SLM Adoption guide (U9555B US). So you can have Application Service Pack 18 and Tools Service Pack 23 or later on BaaN IVc4 environment on Linux and Oracle 12.x.

Now to answer your queries:

1. While doing SP upgrade, you can select option "Check Customizations" in session "Check Solution to Install"

(ttpmc2203s000) which would give list of customization impacted.

2. Testing of all Business Processes where customization is involved.

I see that session is a subsession. What is the main session?

Hi,

There is no utility to do SP upgrades. There are batch installers available in download centre but as you are already in SP18, so i think those would not be of help. Here make a note that I advise to only upgrade Tools Service Pack for SLM enablement.

Session is ttpmc2101m000. Once you scan SP, it will be in "Available" state in this session. Select Service Pack , go To Specific and select option "Check Solution to install" . This will open sub session ttpmc2203s000.

With upgrade of SP, there would new tables and can be changed table definitions within existing tables.
