Pointing requesters and/or items toward an inventory location.

I have an item that has been discontinued by the vendor that is still being ordered by our requesters. I inactivated the PO13 record, so the agreement line is now on hold. I have an inventory location that is well stocked with the item and I would like the requesters to pull from inventory. How do I make that happen? They are set up with a different "From Location" that our actual inventory is set up as and I am not sure how to point them to inventory. Many of the requesters do not use templates or have PAR locations either.

Inactivating PO13 and putting the agreement line on hold won't stop the item from going to a PO if it's nonstock at their From Location. If they don't use a par or template they would have to manually change the From Location on their req to the location where the item is stocked. I would recommend setting up a company template if you have many requesters from various departments that need to order this. But even then if they have access to express or the catalog search they could still order it as nonstock. What you could do is add the item to their From Location and make it inactive. If they try to order it in Express without changing their From Location they'll get this error.

If they try to order it through the catalog search it won't come up.

To get them to order from the "right" location that still has stock - you can put it on a template with the correct location. The template will override the default from location on RQ01. The WH130 should see it and create the pick.

Infor has implemented the Discontinued Item” enhancement. This is enhancement has been included in CTP-116342 for v10. I would suggest reviewing this new functionality as it seems it might resolve your concerns.

IC11.1 has no function for items to allow remaining inventory items to deplete without allowing new requisitions, inventory items and purchase orders to be added for an item.

Added a new value “D - Discontinued” to the status field of IC11.1 and IC12.1. This will allow a Requester to requisition the item from inventory but will not allow the item to be ordered on a PO.

You could use an IPA to flip the from location on the line if the item is ordered.

I don't know that IPA could - once a req is released, you cannot make changes to the line. The IPA would have to unrelease, change and then re-release -- or bypass security with some sort of sql update.

We use an IPA to flip the From Location currently.
