Lot or serial number tracking Lawson 9.0

We are introducing lot tracking at the IC12.1 level and I wanted to see if anyone has any experience in this, or is currently doing it?  I have done some research, but there does not seem to be much on the subject in the way of setup and how the process is implemented and works.

You have 2 options, to load Serial Numbers on receipt or on issue. We tried it briefly, but operations did not like the extra steps to issue the product out.



On receipt makes your receiving personnel validate every serial number when it comes in and populates into the stocking locations. This means that warehouse staff have to cycle count specific serial numbers and issue specific serial numbers. creates quite a bit of work.



On issue, the staff just has to log the serial number when they use the product. This can be done with the handheld, but even so, our folks balked at the additional time. In addition, there is no connectivity between what you issue and record and the replenishment process. For vendors that require you to send the serial numbers of products used before they replenish, it's still a manual process of logging the information into the requisition.

We are setting one IC12 up for lot number tracking on receipt, but wondered how an IC21.2 is done by lot number? I do not see a field where a lot number can be populated in IC21.2. For example.. a PAR returns a specific lot number because of a recall. How is that specific lot returned to give credit to department?

When you issue a lot numbered item, you will be transferred to the IC29.1 screen automatically to enter the lot information
