Windows 10 build 1709 visual 7.0 compatibility

Is there a work around to allow a Visual 7.0 client to work on a windows 10 build 1709. The 7.0 client works fine for all earlier builds of Windows 10.

1) From Charles Hooper (a very knowledgeable Infor Guru), hopefully it is OK to copy his post here.

Last fall I spent 40+ hours analyzing this problem and put together a how-to that seems to work around the problem with the latest version of Windows 10 (at least 1709 - Fall Creators Update). You may access the how-to from the following link: https://goo.gl/HcpC3p

The how-to indicates that a portion of the Windows 10 SDK is needed for the work around. You will specifically need the Windows ADK for Windows 10, version 1709, accessed from the following link (use this link rather than the link in the how-to): docs.microsoft.com/.../adk-install

I know that a few people have tried the work around outlined in the how-to, but I have not heard from anyone recently regarding success rates.

2) Others are finding success with Windows 10 Version 1803 Spring Creators Update. For whatever reason additional mods were not needed to for this version of windows.

Note: I have not tried either solution. We run Infor 9.0.2 on Windows 10.

We spent quite a while looking into the problem with no real solution, in the end we decided to stop wasting time, took a deep breath and updated from 7.0.0 straight to 9.02. Db upgrade and Client uninstall/reinstall was straightforward if a little time consuming.
