Req. Approval from Personal Mobile Devices?

Is anyone using Infor apps from the Apple App Store for req approval or linking to the environment via an email notification so that users can approve/deny from their phones?

We opted not to use the Mobile Requisition app. Instead, we use the email approval feature for approvals. Users can respond via their email on their phones.

We're also in the process of designing our approval process and have the same questions. Mobile approval is a requirement for our design, however our Information Security Director has questions and hesitations opening up the system on person devices. If you are using email to approve, are you allowing this only within your network? If not, how is it designed to approve via email outside your network? Are your mobile devices company owned or truly personal? Thanks!

We have approval via email - but as Crystal states, it's only within network so we can authenticate user id. Otherwise we found problems with being able to forward the email, the person you forwarded it to clicking "Approve" and the system recording the action under your user id.

The Mobile App is for Inbasket Notifications - so yes, you must be using Inbasket to approve the reqs. The apps require login and show a plain text version of the req line detail.

It works a charm, but we have a gotcha that is unique to us. Our IPA has a prompt that if you reject or unreleased a req, it requires a message be sent. The app does not have message functionality. So it can be used to approve, but reject/unrelease must be done from the browser.

As for security on the mobile app: it's in discussion. The app can only view the user's inbasket. I can't access workunit/user configurations from it.

To restrict access, we could "hide" the setups and require the users to put in tickets, but even with the server information, it will only show them what is already in their inbasket. It authenticates the login when the app is open just as any browser login would.

Did you have to setup a server outside the firewall to allow individuals to use the Mobile App outside your network area? And your issue with the forwarded mail can be resolved by adding a configuration setup to require login. They have made it required in v11.

Hi Kat, Thanks for the info. What version of Lawson are you on? I would also like to know if this is set up outside the firewall. How are your users accessing the database? Are you using a web server to access the Inbasket? Are the devices set up with VPN access?

jreese - I'm in SCM so I'm not sure about the server setups. The email did require login and still recorded the wrong user id. There was much discussion about how that should not be possible and what was ultimately discovered is beyond my expertise. I just know the result of it was that we can only respond to emails within network.

Crystal - We are on v10. Which piece outside the firewall? The app is downloaded and the profile is setup per the instructions from Infor. Once setup, the profile shows only the profile name (in my case DV10) and gives you your standard Infor login screen.
