EDI Dynamic Ship to Addresses

Hello!

We have a large customer that utilizes EDI with us, and they have Dynamic/free-form Ship To addresses. They are expecting that we can handle them without any issue. However, as I'm sure many of you are aware of, is that Visual requires static assigned Ship To Addresses.

I have asked the customer to send me a list of Ship to Addresses that they may use, but they have more or less refused and stated that "They expect that their vendors can handle dynamic addresses". Infor Xtreme stated that this is not possible and have asked me to ask the community... so here I am.

Have any of you ran into anything like this before?

I may be missing the detail or oversimplifying, but can you just use Shipping Addresses under Customer Maintenance, Maintain, Shipping Addresses? You could enter it at the time of order and select it when placing the order.

That is certainly something that the users can do, and this is standard procedure for manually entered Orders.

The issue is that these are coming in via EDI, so there is no user interaction when the PO's arrive. Visual imports them directly from the mapped VDI files.

So I am trying to see if someone has found a method to generate dynamic shipto addresses from the EDI transmissions.

Hi Mat,

Okay, makes sense. Without hijacking your thread, did you use a third party vendor to implement EDI integration? We need to consider implementing here.

Sure. As our lovely friends at OpenText already work with Infor with GUPTA reporting, we went with GXS BizManager. We then import to Visual utilizing the standard Visual EDI modules.
