windx connection limits to nthost, FACTS 7.7.4

Hi,

One of our clients is asking if there is a limit, or suggested number of connections to a providex nthost.

They are running FACTS 7.7.4, on redhat linux with 80 FACTS users & 120 windx users.

Currently, they have 5 hosts with 20 - 24 windx's each.

Infor support said that they are unaware of any limits per host.

The limit is most likely an OS issue with the number of processes that the user starting the sessions is allowed. This is normally changeable to some higher limit. Each FACTS user can start more that 1 session so a 100 user system may require that the user starting the nthost process be allowed to have 400 processes or more.

The only limit would be the ending port that you use for the range of ports. Example 11000-11999 could give you 999 connections. I believe when the system hits 11999, it circles back to the beginning.
I see no "FACTS" or PVX or OS related reason to have multiple nthosts.
I did have one customer that liked to have separate nthosts by branch to make it easier for them to identify and kill off.

Now that I have read Holly's response, I do recall a SCO setting or three that we had to adjust. I would have to find some archives of mine if this is your case.
