Scheduling Window

Hi,

We are trying to use Visual more and more. For planning purpose, I'm looking at the scheduling Windows. As a first test, I put all work order “complete” and I ran the Global scheduler and the MRP. My problem: I still have a lot of work order in the scheduling windows (1070 work order, all in complete or cancelled status). So, I change the status to cancel, they are still there. I change the quantity to 0. Every time running Global scheduler and MRP. They don’t want to disappear. Does anybody know how to clean the scheduling windows? If my work order is cancel, I don’t know why it still appear in the scheduling windows.

try opening some of the closed and cancelled WO's in the Manufacturing Window and see if the Operations are closed.

If they are still showing in your Scheduling Window, the operations must theoretically still be Released or Firmed (as Unreleased , Closed and Cancelled Operations do not appear on the Schedule).

When you change the status of a WO (E.G. from Released / Firmed to Closed) there is a "Change Status" dialogue box that opens with a check box option "Change status of subordinate materials and operations". Ours is checked by default, but if yours isn't, you might have only closed the Header Card of the WO, and not the Subordinates.

The proper way of making sure completed operations do not show on the scheduling Window is by performing Labour tickets against the WO that show progress. However for your 1070 old WO's it is probably simpler just to close the Operations down and start labour ticketing new WO's.

All the operation are close. I took one work order in example, where I open the Manufacturiong windows and change the header cards to close and check for all sub-operation. It's a Fail.

I return in manufacturing windows, change hearder card and sub-op and material card to cancelled. They are still there.

I return in manufacturing windows, change quantite to 0 in hearder card. All operation and material cards have a black rectangle. They are still in scheduling windows.

Once you have amended the Status of the Operations (e.g. from Released / Firmed to Closed / cancelled / Unreleased), you then have to Run the Schedule (normally at the end of the day) for the changes to show. Alternatively, from the Manufacturing Window, "select Schedule Current WO", ensuring you select the correct Schedule ID, and then Refresh the Scheduling Window to reflect the changes instantly.

I run the Global scheduler and the MRP regeneration between each test.

It's been difficult to get my users to understand that closing the WO without closing the OPs is a no-no when it comes to the scheduler. - Great conversation and example of how this works. Nice to know I'm not alone.
