Has anyone done mass loads of Image URLs? If so, what method did you use?
Thanks,
Dan

We did this at my previous place. We had some assistance from Don Peterson at Infor who wrote us a special add-in to get it loaded.

Our IT did it for us - used an Add-In as well I believe.
1. We put our images in a network folder named the itemnumber.jpg
2. IT moved the folder to the Lawson server.
3. Had a spreadsheet with item, serverpath/itemnumber.jpg
4. IT took it from there.

Here is the message and file we received from Don Peterson. The upload works beautifully. I had to modify the code for Covidien because they use a "?" in their url and the upload has some character replacements in it that converted the "?" to a "/" and broke the link.

The new version of the Add-Ins is written in .NET so that there can be a 32- and 64-bit version. The programming in Microsoft Excel is not able to access these files, only Visual Basic generated dll files.
Because of this, in order to run these workbooks, they will need to install the last VB version of the Add-Ins. This is just running the install to get the files they need, they will not be running these Add-Ins, they can still run the new ones. Installing the older version will not interfere with the new .NET version they have.
The last VB version is no longer available from the InforXtreme site but I did put the install file on one of my websites. You can go to
www.donpetersonmn.com/addins.htm
There is only one link on the page near the top. Right click on that and select Save Target As… or whatever it says in the browser you are using. Save the file to somewhere that you can find it. When you run it, it may ask for an install directory. This is just for temporary files during the installation so you can just select or create a temp directory somewhere.
After you do this, if the new version of the Add-Ins does not show in Excel, just go to the Control Panel, select Programs and Features, and select Infor Lawson Add-Ins for Microsoft Office (xx-bit) and then just click Repair in the menu bar of the window. When that is done, the Add-Ins will again show in the Excel menu.

Hey KatVila, can you expand on what kind of impact loading all of the jpg files to the Lawson server had? We are interested in doing the same thing, but have concerns with memory utilization and performance issues. We are hesitant to move forward as we have had some performance problems as of late. Wanted to see if you had any insight or thoughts on loading everything directly to the Lawson server. Thanks!

Is there a way to use a link to a website vs saving all of the images? We currently have a similar process to KatVila in that we store all of our jpg images on a network drive and use the hyperlink to paste in Lawson IC11.

Our process loads the supplier url from their server. We do not store any images.
