SOP Batch Processing hanging at the end
unknown
I have a customer who uses the Batch Processing to progress Deliveries to Invocies once a week so there can be quite a few documents to process. It goes through the whole process and prints each invoice as it goes and then gets to the very end and prints the last invoice but then just sits on the screen and doesn;t complete - we have left this for over an hour so it has stopped and we have to crash out.
We have uninstalled and reinstalled the pdf driver thinking it was maybe having an issue creatign the pdf images.
We have tried running the batch processing from other machiens inclusing the server and it does the same so is nto machine specific.
We have loaded the 6.80.10 upgrade and it still happens.
The ant-virus is Symantec Corporate edition and is set to exclude all the operaii directory.
There must be something environmental but I dont; knwo what else to check now - any ideas?
Machines are XP SP3 with 2GB RAM or more

No idea about this - but have you excluded the local opera II temp directory from virus checking?
unknown
and exclude the local OII folders; eg c:documents and settingsall usersapplication datapegasus /s and c:program filespegasus /s
I would also try copying a snapshot of the data to a local Opera II install on a laptop before running the batch processing to see how it works locally on a different machine/server. You could leave that running way beyond the hour if you wanted to see if it ever completes. Could also run some of the sysinternals tools to see what's going on under the hood if you know what you're doing with them.
Does it ever complete or is it a random/intermittent problem?

It was stoppping every time and then when i uninstalled and reinstalled the pdf driver it seemed tor un through about 3 or 4 times fine so i thought that was resolved and now it has started hanging again.
I did pull the dtadown onto my machien and it ran through fine so I do think it is somethign environmental - i will get him to check he has excluded the local folders from the anti-virus, thanks for the suggestions.

intermittent problems are more than often not anti virus related (an example is P60 printing and won't process), I would agree with all points currently raised but often the local temp folders as David suggested are missed. Inmost cases that will resolve these kinds of issues.
If it was the PDF driver you would get other messages and none would be produced. (printer not activated, printer not found etc.)
If it was anything else globally affecting all users the only other thing I can thin of would potentially be a corrupted report design (either FPT or FRX) although I would expect this not to work at all not get to the end. however if you weren't using their reports folder for your testing and using standard report designs (customer's will likely to be bespoked) designs in your offsite testing it may be worth exploring. It may be worth renaming the current files used and replacing them with files from a backup in case for some unknown reason they are becoming corrupt. (as suggested I think this unlikely but worth perhaps mentioning)
I would suggest as it fails at the end each time, this is not a coincidence and likely to hang at point to the tables being updated.
Hope that helps

Have had this issue myself in the past, especially with the P60's where it get's to the end and sits there. Found a workaround for this, kill the task in task manager, where it comes up with End Process or Cancel, select cancel, this then releases the "lock" and the process then goes through.
Give it a go, you haven't got anything to lose.

Hi,
Try clicking on the Calendar icon in the main toolbar at the top. Sounds like a strange thing to do but it kick starts the process. It worked for printing P60's issue and also when performing a sales or purchase ledger transfer (and Opera just hangs!).
Cheers

I have also had this problem with P60's and batch process (both on multiple sites and my laptop install). All sites have local C:optemp and short shareNames of op2prog and op2data. Work with both NOD32 and Symantec Endpoint - exclusions are always set for the opera folders.
CTRL-ALT-DEL and kill task - then close the form (don't click End now, click Cancel), it then completes the process and no corrpuptions found.
Sure i also had it with an EC VAT report (ESL Report)

We have had a similar problem in SOP Batch Processing and it turned out to be the Invoice Design even though it works fine when producing indiividual Invoices. I tested this by copying their data into a play company prior to running batch processing and selecting the standard invoice design when the publisher appeared and it completed without a problem. I then created a new invoice design for them to select when running Batch Processing and all is ok.
