Email Payslips - Access Denied

Has anybody come across the following message, when emailing payslips:-

Access Denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

This seems to be very random, some weeks we have had all email payslips sent with no problem, others we have had the odd one or two which have failed and even had the whole of the payroll encounter this error.

Hi, we have a list of email paylsips error messages. Most of them we have solutions for, but this one, our IT people confirmed:

*Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

This is not an SMTP error, so im not sure what the issue is, it will be a permission issue somewhere.

Not very helpful, but thats all we have Im afraid

You could try adding the domain admin on the scheduler service & making sure everyone has full control on all the opera & scheduler folders?

Hi Mark,

if you have not already done so, try googling "Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))".

This sort of error message is usually coming back from one of the standard Microsoft libraries, possibly ASP.NET in this case. As James has already said, possibly a permissions issue.

May also be worth double checking Antivirus, Compression and Indexing are all off for the relevant folders, including Temp files.

0x80070005 E_ACCESS_DENIED

Access denied by DCOM security. Just to explain what DCOM is sorry if I am making you suck eggs "DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) is a set of Microsoft concepts and program interfaces in which client program object s can request services from server program objects on other computers in a network. ... It uses TCP/IP and Hypertext Transfer Protocol "

The user does not have remote access to the computer through DCOM.

Typically, DCOM errors occur when connecting to a remote computer with a different operating system version. Is your client connection remotely to the SMTP server?

Give the user Remote Launch and Remote Activation permissions in dcomcnfg. Right-click My Computer-> Properties. Under COM Security, click "Edit Limits" for both sections. Give the user you want remote access, remote launch, and remote activation. Then go to DCOM Config, find "Windows Management Instrumentation", and give the user you want Remote Launch and Remote Activation.

Hi Mark,

Did you manage to resolve this one?

One of our customers has had emails failing with this reason for years. We've tried everything permissions wise and running everything via a domain admin but it still occurrs.

Ourselves, Pegasus and the IT company are completely out of idea's so would be great if you could share how you fixed this (if you managed to).
